Dr. Reider is Professor fo Surgery and Director of Sports
Medicine at the University of Chicago. Since 2002, he has also
been Editor of the American Journal of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Reider received his AB from Yale University and his MD from
Harvard Medical School. He did his post-graduate training in
surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and in orthopaedic
surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery of Cornell
University Medical College. He completed fellowship training at
Cornell and the University of Wisconsin and additional training
in knee surgery at the Cantonspital Bruderholz in Switzerland.
Dr. Reider's specialty is orthopaedic sports medicine, with
particular emphasis on arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder,
knee and ankle. He has been head team physician for the
University of Chicago since 1981. He has also traveled
internationally with the US Soccer team and USA Wrestling. He
was team physician to the Chicago Power and is currently co-team
physician to the Chicago BlackHawks.
Dr. Reider is internationally recognized as a leader in
orthopaedic sports medicine. He has served as President of the
Herodicus Society and is currently on the Board of Directors of
the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Reider
is the author or editor of four text books and numerous book
chapters and scientific publications.
