Dr. Brian C. Toolan,
M.D. is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in
the care of foot and ankle disorders. Dr. Toolan treats a wide
variety of problems with an expertise in reconstructive surgery
for post-traumatic, degenerative and inflammatory conditions. He
was the first surgeon in Chicago to perform an Agility total
ankle replacement in 1997. He also treats routine and
non-operative problems.
Dr. Toolan received his
undergraduate degree with honors from Columbia University in the
City of New York. He attended the College of Physicians and
Surgeons of Columbia University for his medical degree. His
post-graduate training includes an Orthopaedic Surgery residency
at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute and two
research fellowships in Biomechanics and Bioengineering. Dr.
Toolan trained at the University of Washington Medical Center
with Drs. Sigvard T. Hansen, Jr., M.D. and Bruce J. Sangeorzan,
M.D. to complete an fellowship in Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle
Surgery.
Dr. Brian
Toolan has been named the Residency Program Director for
Orthopaedic Surgery at The University of Chicago effective July
1, 2007.
